Former Real Madrid and Tottenham midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart, has slammed Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag for continuing to snub Casemiro in his first team selection.
Der Vaart said he finds Ten Hag’s decision as a ‘very stupid one.
The Brazil international who joined the Blues from Real Madrid in the summer is yet to start a Premier League game for the Red Devils.
He has made four substitute appearances and he did so again in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
The Dutch manager has kept faith with Scott McTominay in the holding midfield role and performing well.
However, Van der Vaart thinks the former Ajax boss should have thrown the 37-year-old Brazilian star straight into the team when he arrived from Spain.
“Ten Hag should have started playing Casemiro straight away,” Van der Vaart said on Dutch television.
“McTominay starts performing and Man United start winning and then, of course, he can’t put McTominay out of the team anymore, I find this very stupid from him because you are creating your own problem.”
