EPL: Rio Ferdinand reveals Man Utd player that will lose shirt number to Cunha

Published on June 01, 2025 at 05:21 PM

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has said Marcus Rashford will lose his shirt number to new signing, Matheus Cunha.

United confirmed the deal for Cunha on Sunday, after triggering his £62.5 million release clause.

The Brazilian will complete the switch from Wolves when he is back from international duty.

The 26-year-old is Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer.

Amorim has moved quickly to bring in Cunha as he seeks to bolster his attack ahead of his first full season at Old Trafford.

Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in January after his relationship with Amorim broke down.

Ferdinand told his TikTok followers: “I’m hearing he’s taking the No 10 shirt, which was Rashford’s shirt.

“What does that mean for Marcus Rashford? I don’t know.”;
