Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, has given the latest update on the health of Taiwo Awoniyi.

According to Santo, Awoniyi is still in hospital recovering, after he was placed in induced coma following urgent abdominal surgery.

Awoniyi ruptured his intestine after a collision with the post during their 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Sunday.

The Super Eagles striker was treated on the pitch and tried to play on despite being in clear discomfort.

He was eventually admitted in hospital on Monday evening after further investigations by Forest’s medical staff.

“He is on observation now. He is recovering.

“We still have to wait for the doctors to allow visits. His family are there. We are concerned but we are positive.

“The concern of the injury that he had, the situation that he went through. It has been hard on us,”;; Santo told a press conference on Friday.
