Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has warned under-fire manager Ruben Amorim that time is running out for him at Old Trafford.

Rooney was reacting to the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The result means Amorim has won only eight of his 31 league fixtures he has taken charge of.

Although United insist Amorim’s position is safe, United’s next three games against Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland, could decide his fate.

“I don’t think anyone can understand and comprehend what’s going on,” Rooney said.

“Frankly, it’s not good enough. I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be on the manager and the players.

“But it’s very difficult to sit here and say we’re seeing progression and at least we’re seeing things that will get results in the near future. We’re seeing none of that and it’s very difficult.”
