Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer has criticized striker, Nick Woltemade following the team’s Premier League 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday night.

Shearer believes that Woltemade poses a challenge for Newcastle and is not aligning well with the tactical approach of manager Eddie Howe.

Woltemade struggled to make a significant impact against the Cityzens.

“Clearly, Woltemade is an issue for Newcastle United,” Shearer said on Premier League Productions.

“The huge money they spent on him, near £70million, combined with the decision to play Gordon as a centre-forward tells you he is not quite been what they thought he could be in that position.

“When he attempted to press [against Man City when City scored their second goal], he was easily beaten. He is dan issue for Newcastle.”
