Chelsea defender, Reece James, has broken his silence amid claims that he could miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to injury.
James took to his Twitter account to let fans know that he is desperate to recover in time to make it to next month’s World Cup.
The England international tweeted at the weekend: “The race against time is on… But we won’t give up.”
Reports had earlier emerged that James is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks with a knee problem.
Therefore, James’ place in England’s World Cup squad is now doubtful for the upcoming tournament, which is set to start on 20 November.
The right-back picked up the injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
He had to be replaced by captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the 62nd minute, but after scans, the injury now seems more serious than initially thought.
