Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has claimed the Arsenal board could fire manager Mikel Arteta next season.
The Gunners are set to finish without silverware for a fifth consecutive season.
Arteta’s men have lost the Premier League title to Liverpool and were dumped out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
Before that, Arsenal were eliminated at the semi-final stage of the Carabao Cup by Newcastle, while their FA Cup run ended in the third round against Manchester United.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw at Liverpool, Carragher said: “This season felt like it should have been their season.
“There’s no doubt next season that the pressure will be on Mikel Arteta massively in terms of winning something and winning something big.
“The Arsenal board, if they don’t [win a major trophy], will have a massive issue because they won’t want to change their manager, but there will be that many people saying: five or six years without a trophy.
“They will be looking at how many managers can make that next step.”;;
