DEFENDING champions England and Spain will face off in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final this Sunday at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland.
England vs Spain preview
Repeat or revenge?
Just six days after their dramatic extra-time win over Italy, England renew hostilities with rivals Spain in Sunday’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final.
It’s a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final, where Spain broke English hearts with a deserved 1-0 victory in Sydney.
Now, 24 months on, the two best teams in the world meet again â this time with the European crown on the line.
The Lionesses come in as underdogs, priced around 3/1 to retain their title with most bookmakers.
And it’s easy to see why: World champions Spain are eyeing an historic treble, having already claimed the Nations League in 2024.
But England haven’t taken the easy route to Basel. And Sarina Wiegman’s side have more than earned their status as the tournament’s ‘comeback queens.’
After a remarkable quarter-final comeback against Sweden -recovering from 2-0 down to win on penalties â England edged past Italy in a semi-final thriller, equalising in the 96th minute before Chloe Kelly struck the winner in the 119th.
This marks England’s third consecutive major final, with just five losses in their last 19 competitive fixtures.
Spain’s path, by contrast, has been more dominant than dramatic.
They cruised through the group and knockout stages, winning each of their first four matches by at least two goals and scoring a tournament-high 17 goals â while averaging 67% possession.
Yet despite their dominance, this will be their first ever Euros final.
England were the last team to beat Spain â securing a win at Wembley in February â but La Roja had the final word in their most recent meeting, a 2-1 victory on June 3.

First goalscorer
We’re backing Barcelona forward Claudia Pina to open the scoring in Sunday’s final â available at 6/1 with William Hill.
The 23-year-old has been a standout performer at this tournament, scoring twice and registering two assists in just four starts.
She also leads the competition for shots on target, with 10 efforts â more than England’s top threats Lauren James and Lauren Hemp combined (8).
Adding to her credentials, Pina bagged a brace against England as recently as June â while the Lionesses have conceded first in three of their five matches at these Euros.

Goals? Unlikely
Despite being the tournament’s two highest-scoring sides â with a combined 32 goals so far â we’re not expecting a goal frenzy in Sunday’s final.
Clashes between England and Spain are typically tight, low-scoring affairs. Just eight goals have been scored across their last six meetings, with Under 1.5 goals landing in four of those, including Spain’s 1-0 win in the 2023 World Cup final.
Spain’s defence has also been rock-solid at these Euros, conceding just three goals and keeping three clean sheets along the way.
