Raducanu, 23, has endured a frustrating few years since her sensational US Open triumph in 2021.

But Evans, who has beaten the likes of Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz during his career, insists her best days could still be ahead of her.

Speaking to the Telegraph , Evans said: “I genuinely think she will win Wimbledon one day.”

He added: “She’s good, and I think, I’m saying this in as nice a way as possible, I think she thinks she’s good.

“Not in an arrogant way, but when she plays big matches, she’s like ‘Whatever. This is just another match.’

“And yeah, I just think one day she’ll get it.”

Raducanu stunned the sporting world when she became the first qualifier in history to win a Grand Slam singles title at the 2021 US Open.

But the British star has struggled to rediscover that remarkable form, with injuries repeatedly disrupting her progress.

She underwent surgery on both wrists and an ankle in 2023, forcing her to spend months away from competitive tennis.

Her comeback has also been hampered by further physical setbacks, including shin problems, while frequent coaching changes have added to the challenges.

And the pressure of living up to her extraordinary teenage breakthrough has remained a constant talking point.

Despite those difficulties, Evans believes Raducanu’s confidence and ability to handle the biggest occasions make her a genuine Wimbledon contender.

He said: “The crowd can play such a big part in tennis, and you have to keep yourself together on Centre Court, because it’s a daunting place to go and play.

“But she looks like she loves it out there.”

However, Evans also suggested Raducanu could benefit from spending more time practising amid her demanding commercial commitments.

He explained: “There’s no doubt she needs to have a racket in her hand a bit more.

“I’m sure she’s getting pushed side-to-side by endorsements, and there’s a bit of tug of war on what she needs to do, what she doesn’t.”

But he was quick to praise her dedication behind the scenes.

Evans added: “I admit I’ve not watched her practices very often, but from what I’m told she’s a good trainer: she works for two, three hours in a row with hardly any break.”

And while Raducanu continues her battle to return to the top of women’s tennis, Evans is convinced she has the mentality to deliver another Grand Slam triumph, this time on home soil.
