The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP A.M. Bello, has urged residents to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration to promote peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence across the state.

Bello made the call in a goodwill message marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), urging Muslim faithful to reflect on his teachings of peace, compassion, patience, justice and love for humanity.

He said sustainable security and development could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and unity.

The commissioner urged parents, religious and community leaders as well as youths to promote peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship and mutual respect.

He also called on residents to discourage violence, criminality, hate speech and other activities capable of threatening peace and security in the state.

Bello urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for sustained peace, security and prosperity in Zamfara State and Nigeria, as well as seek divine guidance in the affairs of the state and the country.

He advised residents to celebrate the occasion peacefully and responsibly, in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
