BARROW have ruthlessly sacked Dino Maamria after just SIX GAMES in charge in a last-ditch bid to save their season.

The Bluebirds are only outside the League Two relegation zone on goal difference.

And serious fears of dropping out of the have resulted in the hierarchy wielding the axe for the third time this season.

Maamria, 54, was handed the managerial reins in February and guided Barrow to one win in six showdowns.

The lack of form resulted in key figures at Holker Street deciding they needed to rush into taking drastic action.

And midfielder Sam Foley has been placed in interim charge until the end of the campaign.

A club statement read: “Barrow AFC can confirm has left the club today.

“We would like to thank Dino for his efforts and wish him well for the future.

“Sam Foley, supported by Simon Ireland and David Worrall, will take the team until the end of the season.

“We recognise that this has been a very disappointing season with far too much managerial change.

“As the Board of Directors, we understand that the buck stops with us. We believe this change gives us the best chance of remaining in the Football League.

“The Q&A event in the Cross Bar will go ahead as planned on Friday evening and members of the Board will be there to answer questions directly.”
