EFL star and grandson of Man Utd legend charged with breaching betting rules after ‘placing 354 wagers’

AN EFL star has been charged with breaching betting rules by the FA.

Notts County star Lewis Macari is alleged to have placed 354 different bets.

The offences are claimed to have taken place between February 2020 and December 2022.

Macari, 23, has been given until July 18 to respond to the charge.

The defender, who has made 61 appearances for Notts County, comes from a footballing family.

His grandfather Lou, 76, played for Manchester United between 1973 and 1984.

While uncle Paul Macari played for Huddersfield and Stoke, as did another uncle Mike.

Macari began his professional career at Stoke too but made just one appearance, in the FA Cup.
