Julius Bokoru, Special Assistant to former Minister of Petroleum Timipre Sylva, has denounced the sealing of his principal's residence in Maitama, Abuja, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bokoru conveyed his dissatisfaction in a statement released on Monday, titled “A Serious Breach of Decency: EFCC’s Attempted Raid and Defacement of Sylva’s Family Home.”

DAILY POST recalls that in November, the EFCC declared the former governor of Bayelsa State wanted in connection with an alleged $14.8 million fraud.

Previously, military intelligence agents raided his Abuja residence, detaining his brother and driver due to their supposed connection to an alleged failed coup attempt.

The media aide criticized the anti-corruption agency for neglecting to invite the former minister prior to initiating a manhunt for him.

In a similar vein, Sylva reached out to the EFCC last week, requesting a mutually agreeable date to respond to its invitation.

Bokoru stated that the commission's recent actions were carried out without any formal letter, subpoena, warrant, notification, or even the most basic adherence to lawful procedures.

“There was no courtesy, no procedure, and no humanity. This behavior is unbecoming of any institution that claims to operate in the national interest.

“What transpired today at the Maitama residence of His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva, was nothing short of an affront to decency and a troubling assault on the very principles that uphold a civilized society,” the statement partially read.
