EERIE pictures have revealed the playground that Patrick Clancy opened to honor his three dead children lying empty just before a mistrial was declared on Friday.

The former husband of opened the Clancy Family Playground at Wadsworth Field Park in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in June 2025.

It was built by volunteers to honor the lives of his three children with Lindsay – 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

Patrick cut a ribbon to open the park on June 7, 2025, and local children were invited to play at the park and remember his children who called Duxbury home.

The project was organized by the HEARD Foundation , which was founded by Patrick to support parental mental health.

Lindsay went on trial in July 2026 for killing her three children in their Massachusetts home in January 2023.

The jury heard prosecutors claim Lindsay strangled each of the children with exercise bands in the basement of their home.

The former delivery nurse then cut herself with a knife on her wrists and neck, before jumping out of a bedroom window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.

She has admitted to the killings, but her defense argued she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and say that she was therefore not legally responsible.

Prosecutors argued that she deliberately planned the killings and understood that they were wrong.

For five weeks, jurors in Plymouth, Massachusetts, were confronted with one of the most heart-wrenching criminal cases in the US.

On September 4, one juror out of 12 held out and refused to be persuaded by the other 11, which sparked a mistrial.

What happens next in the Clancy case?

Now that a mistrial has been declared, the jury has been discharged.

This means that there is no guilty or not guilty verdict, the trial is incomplete, and the legal proceedings have been reset to their pre-trial state.

Since Clancy has been neither convicted or acquitted, the Double Jeopardy clause – which prevents someone from being tried twice for the same crime – does not apply.

In most cases of mistrial through jury deadlock, it allows the prosecution to try Clancy again with a whole new jury.

Prosecutors do not need to file new or amended charges as the original indictment remains active.

All bail orders before the trial have remained in place and the matter has been adjourned until September 29.

Clancy will remain in the same mental health facility she has been held in for the entire trial.

Patrick, who only appeared at court to take the stand, was pictured by The U.S. Sun with his new wife.

His lawyer issued a statement, stressing that he was already dreading a retrial.

“The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure,” it read. “The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful — for Patrick, for his family, and for all us.”

Lindsay showed little emotion on September 4 after the judge declared a mistrial.

It means the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict and she was neither convicted nor acquitted. Prosecutors could seek to retry the case.

The jury had been deadlocked since Tuesday.

The court is scheduled to reconvene on September 29 to discuss the next steps in the legal proceedings.
