The sale, use and trafficking of hard drugs, cultism, gun violence and other criminal activities have been totally banned in Ebem Ohafia, Ohafia local government area of Abia State with immediate effect.

The ban was announced on Tuesday through the Ebem Ohafia youths, in collaboration with the Central Executive Council of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union and the full backing of the Ebem Ohafia Council of Chiefs and Elders.

A statement signed by Ifeanyi Okali, the Public Relations Officer of Ebem Ohafia Development Union ordered all criminal elements using Ebem Ohafia as their hideout to vacate the community immediately, warning that any indigene found harbouring such undesirable elements would be held accountable.

“With immediate effect, the community has banned the sale, use, and trafficking of hard drugs and illicit substances in Ebem Ohafia. Anyone found guilty will face stiff fines and disciplinary measures, regardless of status.

“The community has also issued a final warning on cultism, directing all persons involved to renounce such activities or face severe community sanctions and prosecution.

“Furthermore, fighting with weapons, brandishing of firearms, and gunshots are strictly prohibited. Any offender will be handed over to security agencies, face heavy fines, and risk additional community sanctions”, the community said.

The community also resolved that Ndi Ikwu shall be held responsible for defaulters within their jurisdictions, including suspension from hosting ceremonies, where necessary.

In addition, traders along the Ebem Police Station/Court Road and within the Ebem Daily market were warned against obstructing gutters, walkways, and free zones, as according to community, all violations will attract immediate impoundment of goods.
