EAMONN Holmes has called girlfriend Katie Alexander “the perfect tonic” after taking a break from his TV job as he continues to face a host of health complications.
The 66-year-old went missing from his breakfast show this week following accusations he fell asleep live on air.

– who underwent major spinal surgery in 2022 for slipped discs – heaped praise on his younger partner while insisting that mentally he’s “still on the ball”.
He said: “I may be physically struggling, but mentally I’m still very much on the ball. I honestly don’t feel any different from when I started on TV over 40 years ago.”
Speaking to the Mirror , Eamonn continued: “Katie is the perfect tonic. There was a time when I could get up and go on the treadmill… but I can’t do that now because of my back.
“When you share the same tastes, it really brings you closer. We’ve definitely bonded over our love of food – it’s become part of our connection.”
It comes just days after ‘s ex appeared to on GB News with Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, MP.
He was seen fiddling with his mic pack before zoning out with his eyes shut during the breakfast show.
After a few seconds he lifts his head and continues to tinker with the sound kit before going on his phone.

Insiders at GB News told The Sun it was the latest incident to cause staff worry over Eamonn’s health.

Speaking on the Session 7 podcast, Eamonn said: “I’m sick. I’m in a wheelchair. That’s been horrendous to deal with for two years.
“Certainly I don’t think TV wants to know you when, I mean there’s nothing – you and I are talking and no one can tell there’s anything wrong, but I can’t get up.”
