The footage shows him screaming “I killed the dude!” after realising his friend, Pawel Czubacki, 40, who was in the passenger seat, is dead.

Mariusz filmed the speedometer hitting 80mph before he crashed on the A46 in Evesham, Worcs., at 5.30pm on July 27, 2024.

Shocked witnesses told how his black 330d had sped past 14 cars and two motorbikes before the fatal smash.

A revealed Mariusz had 80mcg of per 100ml of breath – more than twice the legal limit of 35mcg.

Mariusz, from Evesham, was convicted of causing death by dangerous and was jailed for ten-and-a-half years on Friday, February 13.

Worcester Crown Court Judge Nicholas Cartwright said Mariusz deliberately ignored the rules of the road.

He added that in doing so showed a disregard for the safety of other road users while “showing off”.

The judge also banned Mariusz from driving for 13 years.

The court heard other motorists heard the loud screeching of tyres and saw Mariusz’s wheels spinning on the Twyford Island roundabout, before he hurtled onto the A46 Evesham Bypass.

Mariusz overtook many more vehicles, putting everyone in his path at risk.

He then continued down the centre of the road approaching Badsey Island, as he attempted to overtake another car.

Moments later he lost control and his BMW went into a spin before flipping over and landing on its roof on a grass verge.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services who attended, Pawel died at the scene.

Mariusz was arrested by officers who noticed smelling alcohol on his breath.

He was also found to be over the limit of 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of alcohol in blood – registering 84 milligrams – when his blood was taken some time later.

Mariusz’s mirror dashcam was used as evidence of his reckless driving earlier in the day and leading up to the crash.

It captured him seconds after the crash screaming in Polish: “F***! He is dead mate! I killed the dude. F***! Buddy! I killed him!”

Detective Constable Danny Somner, of West Mercia Police, said: “We are pleased to get this conviction and sentencing for Mariusz today whose appalling driving resulted in the tragic death of his passenger and put many other motorists at risk of serious harm that day.

“It would be easy to think that what happened was just a one-off lapse of judgment or moment of madness, however, the footage recovered from Mariusz’s dashcam showed his usual driving was risky and dangerous, so it is right he is behind bars and has been handed a lengthy ban from the roads.”
