Debris was left strewn across the carriageway as stunned motorists slammed on the brakes.
The horror crash happened between junctions 12 and 13 near Staines, Surrey, on July 5.
Footage shows the hatchback moving into the middle lane of the five-lane motorway before clipping the vehicle in front at what appears to be low speed.
Moments later, the car suddenly flips over, its airbag goes off as it rolls twice across the tarmac before sliding to a halt on its side.

A man inside the car capturing the footage gasps: “S***.”
A woman then shouts: “F***.”
The man adds: “Oh my God.”
The woman replies: “What happened?” before dialling 999.
Traffic on the 70mph motorway quickly ground to a standstill.
Several motorists got out of their vehicles to help the occupants.
Two people were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further checks.
Motorist Lesley Shaw said: “What happened?
“It just suddenly flipped.”
Vik Singh added: “What the f***.”
The footage also sparked debate online after a silver BMW 1 Series was seen driving past the wreckage.
Martin Taylor said: “That’s a BMW driver for you, don’t give a t*** about anybody.”
Stephen Reeves added: “I thought it was illegal to leave the scene of an accident?”
Others defended the BMW driver’s actions.
Matt James said: “Could have been a woman with kids in the car.
“I wouldn’t stop in the fast lane with passengers.
“However, you’d pull up further down on the hard shoulder like.”
Jo Atherton added: “The BMW did the right thing.
“They were so close that they would’ve gone on fire if the overturned car did.
“They needed to get out of the way for emergency services.”
Matt Leith said: “Sitting still in a high speed lane isn’t safe, even in that situation.”
Cops said they were called to the M25 between junctions 12 and 13 at around 5.40pm on Sunday, July 5, following reports of a crash involving two vehicles.
Ambulance crews, firefighters and National Highways officers also attended the scene.
The two occupants of the overturned car were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service said both patients were assessed at the roadside before being transported to St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey for further checks.
