Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has given a directive that the newly employed 5,394  teachers in the State should not be posted to areas where their productivity would be negatively affected.

He also cautioned that postings should not be used as a  punitive measure against any worker in the state.

Otti made this known on Friday while addressing Abia people during his monthly chat with journalists at the Government House, Umuahia.

The Governor, who said that his administration was sustaining  the strides in provision of quality education,  healthcare and infrastructure, said that the  teachers should be posted to the areas where they will deliver their best.

“We got a report that people were posted to areas where they could not operate efficiently and I gave instructions that people should not be posted to where they could not deliver their best.

“If somebody lives in Ukwa and you post them to Arochukwu, relocation could be difficult and that would affect their productivity”, Otti said.

Reacting to the allegations by the former Abia State Commissioner for Information, Eze Chikamnayo that his administration could not account for multi-billion Naira budgeted for schools and other projects, Otti dismissed the claims as untrue.

Otti, who said that Chikamnayo was attacking him for refusing to allow him to serve in his administration, challenged the former Commissioner to visit his Umunnochi local government to see the school projects going on there.

“Somebody came to me and said ‘if you put us in payroll we will stop writing’ and I said we will not, keep writing”, Otti said.
