The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to broaden its counterterrorism initiatives by not only combating insurgents but also by identifying and dismantling their financial backers.

During the November Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City Campground, Adeboye emphasized that the battle against terrorism will only be successful if those funding the violence are held accountable, regardless of their influence or political stature.

“When issuing directives to the service chiefs, the President should clearly state that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists but also to target their sponsors, irrespective of how powerful they may be,” he remarked.

Adeboye advised President Bola Tinubu to take decisive and diplomatic action to put an end to the ongoing violence across the nation. He cautioned that Nigeria cannot afford to depend on foreign nations for assistance in the event of a significant conflict, highlighting the importance of domestic solutions.

The cleric also expressed his concerns regarding recent assertions made by President Tinubu that the security situation in the country has improved, stating that such claims do not align with the realities faced by Nigerians.

“I nearly spoke out last month when I heard a segment of the President’s speech that claimed everything is fine. The person who wrote that part of the speech does not have his best interests at heart. People are still being killed and displaced,” Adeboye remarked.

He urged the government to prioritize tangible results over mere rhetoric, acknowledging that the security issues predate the current administration but must now be addressed decisively.

Adeboye further called for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, reminiscing about a time when Christians and Muslims coexisted harmoniously before politics exacerbated divisions.

He concluded with a hopeful outlook that peace will eventually return to the country, encouraging Nigerians to remain steadfast and prayerful.
