The Naira on Friday depreciated against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market to end the rally and week on a negative note.
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira weakened on Friday to N1,343.64 per dollar, down from N1,342.30 recorded on Thursday.
This means that on a day-to-day basis it dropped by N1.34 against the dollar. DAILY POST reports that this is the first loss the local currency had after four days of rallying against the dollar this week.
However, at the black market, the Naira remained at N1410 per dollar according to multiple Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4 throughout the week under review.
This comes as the country’s foreign reserves stood at $48.65 billion as of April 16th, 2026.
