Tragic Incident: Dog Dies in McDonald's Parking Lot Fire, 28-Year-Old Arrested While Police Search for Two Good Samaritans

A DOG died after a car was set on fire in a McDonald’s car park as cops investigate the shocking blaze.

The vehicle was found alight at around 12.15am on Monday, June 22, with firefighters called to tackle the flames.

Tragically, a dog was found dead inside the vehicle in the chain’s car park on Winchester Road, Petersfield.

Officers have launched an to establish exactly what happened and how the fire started.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of arson and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and having no .

The man has since been bailed with conditions until September 22 while enquiries continue.

Officers have now been reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

They are particularly keen to speak to two men who were seen in the area around the time of the fire.

The pair appear to have tried to get into the vehicle in an attempt to help the dog.

Cops believe they could have important information about what happened and are urging them to come forward.

The spokesperson said they “appreciate that these are not the clearest images”, but urged anybody with information to get in touch, quoting reference number 44260294619.”
