The move has raised the stakes in the and risks putting the two-week ceasefire deal under even greater strain.
Furious has vowed to stop “any and all ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait” – through which some 20 per cent of the world’s oil passes.
If successful, a blockade could spell disaster for the Islamic Republic, cutting off its and exports and therefore crippling its economy.
But World War III tensions are rising after China warned that the US blockade around Iranian ports was “dangerous and irresponsible.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made clear that Britain and said that the UK will not get “dragged in” to the conflict.
