Manchester United defender, Diogo Dalot, has blamed himself and his teammates for their embarrassing exit from the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The Red Devils suffered what could be regarded as one of their most embarrassing defeats in the history of the club when a lowly-rated League Two side, Grimsby Town, knocked them out of the Carabao Cup in the second round.
Dalot, a Portugal international, said the team did not show enough commitment and were not good enough to get a result against the lesser team.
“Not good enough clearly, what we did especially in the first half. I think we gave the game to them, clearly, straight away, exactly what they wanted,” he told reporters, as quoted by ESPN.
He, however, said they never expected the game with the League Two club to be easy, adding, “We should have shown much more.”
Manchester United will now be playing only in the Premier League and FA Cup this season following the loss to Grimsby Town.
