Medical staff immediately rushed to the Dane’s attention as players from both sides came together and formed a protective wall around the playmaker in an emotional scene.
The game was quickly abandoned but the Wolfsburg star was thankfully conscious and “well” as he was taken away in an ambulance with his wife Sabrina by his side.
And manager Brian Riemer immediately went to visit his star player in hospital.
Riemer said: “I saw the situation out of the corner of my eye and just thought that Christian was tackled.
“But I realised that it was something completely different.
“The players formed a ring around Christian. I tried to keep an overview of how we should approach it all.”
Denmark were 2-1 up thanks to goals by Patrick Dorgu and Joakim Maehle before hit back with Viktor Tsygankov.
The harrowing incident took place just five years after the attacking midfielder during Euro 2020 in a group stage match between the Danish national team and Finland.
The ex- star’s heart stopped for about five minutes but thankfully made a full recovery.
The former star was then given an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), which detects dangerous heart rhythms and delivers corrective electrical shocks.
And the ICD did “what it was put in place to do” before confirming is “okay”.
But it is still unknown what exactly happened to the Denmark international, who was transferred to hospital for further tests.
