DELE ALLI left Tottenham fans in tears after penning a heartfelt thank you to the club and supporters.

The 29-year-old left Spurs in 2022 after seven years at the club, the early days of which saw him become one of the most exciting midfielders in world .

He also gave an interview to the club in which he was thanked for his service as a player.

But the midfielder made a humble statement as he instead paid tribute to the love he received from supporters.

He said: “I think I have to owe you guys a bigger thank you.

“The love and the support I felt from the fans during my whole time at Tottenham was surreal.

“So I think I owe you guys a thank you rather than you owe me a thank you.”

The kind nature of Alli has broken the hearts of Tottenham fans who have been reduced to tears on social media.

Dele’s style and popularity is in contrast to how fans now feel about the team, who are in a genuine relegation battle.

The former man admitted to getting choked up at his continued reception: “I see some videos online [of them singing my name].

“For me it’s felt like I have a very special connection with them and sometimes it makes me a little bit emotional.

“Seeing the videos getting love and appreciation. It feels good.”

He added that a connection was easy to forge, saying: “Me being me, I like to have fun and I like to entertain. Off the pitch it kind of showed.

“To dare is to do is what Tottenham is about and I showed a lot of that in my personality and that is the way I am as a person.

“It was quite easy to relate.”

Dele won the PFA Young Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2015/16 and 2016/17, and was named to the Premier League Team of the Year in 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

However, his form began to fade before he ultimately left the north London side for in January 2022.
