At least 63 individuals have lost their lives following a head-on collision between two buses, which resulted in a four-vehicle pile-up on a busy highway.

Details of the Collision

The buses were traveling in opposite directions when they "met head-on" while both attempted to overtake a car and a truck in Uganda, according to police reports.

Aftermath and Casualties

As one of the buses swerved across the road in an attempt to avoid a crash, it collided with the other bus, which was also filled with passengers at the time.

The accident initiated a "chain reaction," leaving both buses wrecked on the highway as other vehicles overturned while trying to navigate around the destruction.

Numerous injured individuals were discovered by the roadside when emergency services arrived at the scene in Kitaleba village.

Authorities express concern that the casualty count may rise due to the severity of some injuries.

Investigation

This significant traffic incident occurred on the Kampala-Gulu Highway at 12:15 AM local time, as reported by the Uganda Police Force.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the precise cause of the crash.
