NEWCASTLE favourite Dan Burn and Arsenal title-chaser Kai Havertz have been at each other’s throats in the past – but they ended their bitter feud in unexpected circumstances.

Tempers have flared when the duo have not seen eye-to-eye in previous seasons.

Burn needed stitches after being left with a gruesome head injury thanks to being in March 2022.

To make matters worse for the Toon defender, the German forward went on to bag a last minute winner for then-employers Chelsea after avoiding a red card.

That ignited a long-running feud because they tangled again when Newcastle got revenge later that year.

And Burn was quickly on the scene after Havertz caught Sean Longstaff with a late tackle 12 months later.

But the England man, who returned from suspension for last weekend, has revealed that he buried the hatchet with his nemesis.

Burn and Havertz put their differences aside when they were in Singapore during the summer.

The Geordie, 33, told FourFourTwo : “He’s actually, frustratingly enough, quite a nice guy. I had a drink with him and he’s actually sound.

“I saw him in pre-season when we played in Singapore. We had time where we could go and have a few drinks, and we saw some of the Arsenal lads.

“I just got chatting to him. We both said to each other, ‘That’s just the way it is when we play,’ we’ve just got to be at that sort of level.”

Burn has been involved in all five squads selected since Thomas Tuchel took over as England boss, leading to him being on course to head to the World Cup next year.

But Havertz, 26, is in a race against time to prove his fitness for Germany after being in August.

He has been limited to just 30 minutes of action since the season got underway.

Havertz, who from Chelsea in June 2023, has not featured since the opening day win against Manchester United.
