A DAD has been killed after he was found battered in a village street after a brawl as seven people are arrested in a murder probe.
Anthony “Tony” Jones, 56, was found badly injured in Pontnewydd, near Pontypool, Gwent on Thursday evening after the disorder broke out.

Despite best efforts the dad, from Brecon, died in hospital and a murder has been launched.
A further three men were taken to hospital, with two said to be critically injured.

A total of seven men, aged 31, 39, 40, 45, 59, 61, and 73, have been arrested in connection with the brawl and all remain in police custody.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said :” Officers investigating a report of violent disorder in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, on Thursday 6 August, have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 56-year-old man.”
“Gwent Police received a report of violent disorder involving a group of men in Mill Street, at around 7.15pm on Thursday 6 August.
“A 56-year-old man – who can now be named as Anthony “Tony” Jones from Brecon – was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since sadly died.
“His family are being supported by specialist officers.
In total, seven men – aged 31, 39, 40, 45, 59, 61, and 73 – have been arrested in connection with the disorder.
“All seven remain in police custody.”
Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley said: “We recognise that reports of this nature will cause concern in our community, but we have officers working around the clock conducting enquiries as part of the investigation.
“We’re trying to establish the movements of those involved both before and after the disorder and are asking motorists who were driving along Hospital Road, Mill Road and the surrounding areas between 6pm and 9pm on Thursday to check their dashcam footage.
“Anyone with any information is urged to submit information via the Major Incident Public Portal or contact us quoting log reference 2600255536.”
