Cross River: Gov Otu appoints 3 chief press secretaries in two years

Published on June 17, 2025 at 07:25 PM

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has appointed Mr Linus Obogo to replace Mr Gill Nsa as his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor.

Immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state, Nsa had replaced Emmanuel Ogbeche in May 2024 in the same office. Ogbeche reportedly faced a lot of hurdles as Chief Press Secretary, leading to his removal.

He was reassigned to Abuja, where he came from, as Otu’s media aide.

The new CPS, Obogo, a former staff member of ThisDay newspaper, becomes the third CPS in two years of Governor Otu’s administration.

Obogo was Nsa’s deputy. He had served in Governor Ben Ayade’s government as Deputy Chief Press Secretary.

Nsa is now Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

The appointments of the two were conveyed in an official letter dated 17 June 2025 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh.
