But boss Jorge Jesus revealedwas struggling badly throughout the game.

He said: “I was thinking of not including him; he wasn’t in good shape.

“He was suffering from stomach pains and a general feeling of fatigue and, when I substituted him, he went straight to the dressing room and threw up.”

Despite feeling unwell, Ronaldo still played a key role in the match-winning moment.

His powerful long-range strike was parried by keeper Marek Rodak, but reacted quickest to slam home the rebound.

Ronaldo also came close to scoring himself, hitting the post and seeing another effort cleared off the line.

The victory marked a club record-extending 15th league win for Al Nassr.

It keeps them firmly in the hunt for their first Saudi Pro League title since the 2018-19 season.

They now sit eight points clear of rivals Al Hilal, although their title challengers still have a game in hand.

Ronaldo later took to social media to thank fans for their support despite his tough night.

He wrote: “+3. Great energy from the stand.”

The veteran forward has now scored 24 league goals this season.

Only Ivan Toney, currently at Al Ahli, has more, with 27.

Ronaldo finished as the league’s top scorer in each of the last two campaigns and will be hoping to do so again, if he can shake off this latest illness quickly.
