Jokey Kevin Nabet had a race to forget as he was left ‘skating’ at one stage

Among the contenders was Lord Brett, a powerful gelding horse with a reputation for speed.

Jockey Kevin Nabet – known for his cool-headedness and skill – was in the saddle determined to bring the victory home.

As the race hit its final turn, Lord Brett was neck and neck with the leaders.

The finish line was within sight and the tension was palpable but then in a shocking twist, disaster struck.

Lord Brett jumped the final hurdle, but his power caused Nabet, who had been riding with great precision, to suddenly lose his grip.

A jolt from the horse caused Nabet to slip off the saddle and, in an instant, he was dangling, his body swaying between two horses as he held on to both to try and regain his balance.

His feet scrambled to stay in place but there was nothing he could do as his boots scraped against the grass – he briefly hung on for his life before letting go.

In a video posted by At The Races, Lord Brett continued on, leaving Kevin behind to make sense of what had just happened.

One fan saw the funny side on X and said: “Hang it in the Louvre!”;;

Another fan commented: “Imagine backing the horse he was holding onto-you’d be fuming.”;;

A third fan said: “The jockey looked like me leaving the pub on a Saturday night.”;;
