The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday refused to grant an application submitted by former Jigawa governor, Sule Lamido, aimed at preventing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from moving forward with its planned National Convention.
In the motion ex parte presented by his attorney, Jeph Njikonye, SAN, Lamido requested that the court issue an interim order while awaiting the hearing and resolution of the motion on notice.
Justice Peter Lifu, in his ruling, directed the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who are the defendants in the case, to appear and explain why the ex-governor’s requests should not be approved.
The former governor, who is the plaintiff in this new case labeled: FHC/ABJ/CS/2299/2025, has identified the PDP and INEC as the first and second defendants, respectively.
