The High Court of Justice in Niger State has granted an interim injunction in favour of Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd, restraining the state government and its agencies from taking any adverse action against the broadcasting company.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Mohammed S.A. Mohammed on August 5, 2025, in favour of the applicants, Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd and its Managing Director, Mohammed Shuaibu Badeggi, ordered the maintenance of the status quo pending the determination of the substantive motion.

This decision restrains the respondents, which include the Executive Governor of Niger State and the Niger State Urban Development Board, from engaging in any act that could jeopardise the company’s broadcasting licence or business operations.

The applicants cited various provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and the National Broadcasting Commission Act, among others.

The interim order expressly prohibited actions such as revocation, withdrawal, seizure, or demolition at the broadcasting premises located at the NTA Compound, Uphill Minna.

Counsel to the applicants, Philip K. Emmanuel, expressed satisfaction with the ruling, stating that it protected the applicants’ rights and interests.

The case will be scheduled for further hearing to comprehensively examine the issues at stake.
