A WOMAN has been commended for creating a faux fireplace in her council flat using her DIY skills and “blind confidence.”

Charl is in the process of transforming her flat into her dream home and decided to enhance her living room by adding a fireplace.

Since the property lacks a chimney, she opted for the illusion of a fireplace and began crafting one.

She chronicled the process in a video on her TikTok page, captioning it: “Just a girl in her council flat, tiling a faux fireplace like she knows what she’s doing!”

The video starts with her marking the interior of a wooden fireplace surround she had acquired.

She then proceeded to add the grout before carefully placing terracotta tiles on top.

Charl completed four rows of nine tiles in a rectangular pattern before reattaching the surround.

She secured it in place, varnished the surround, and added fairy lights and mantle decorations to complete the transformation.

With her only expense being the wooden surround at £80, the makeover was quite budget-friendly.

Fortunately, she was able to obtain the grout and tiles for free from a local store that was closing down.

“Blind confidence & budget tiles,” she captioned her TikTok.

“Now I need to find a nice faux fire!”

The comments section of the video quickly filled with praise for Charl's impressive work.

“This is beautiful!” one user commented.

“I admire your creativity; I would never have thought of this, let alone been able to build it!”

“It looks adorable, an electric flame effect stove would complement it perfectly,” suggested another.

“She’s amazing! I love the tiles,” a third user exclaimed.

“Great, now I have a new weekend project I MUST undertake,” someone else humorously remarked.
