The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has urged stakeholders to reaffirm their dedication to creating a corruption-free society where leaders prioritize the welfare of citizens and the nation.

The Chairman of the ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu SAN, made this appeal at a National Integrity Summit held on Wednesday.

This event, themed “Integrity is Everything: Building Ethical Leaders for a Sustainable Future,” gathered Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders to discuss the significance of ethical leadership at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.

According to the ICPC Chairman, represented by Deputy Director Mr. Kingsley Obi, “As we come together to emphasize the importance of ethical leadership, let us strive to reaffirm our commitment to fostering a corruption-free society where leaders prioritize the welfare of citizens and the nation.

“This year’s theme aligns with the ICPC’s mandate, which focuses on promoting good governance, enhancing public trust, and ensuring accountability, transparency, and integrity in public service.

“We play a vital role in holding government officials accountable by investigating corruption allegations, recovering stolen assets, and ensuring that public resources are utilized for the benefit of citizens.”

Dr. Aliyu also highlighted that the Commission is collaborating with NGOs across the country to fulfill its mission of eradicating corruption.

The ICPC Chairman praised the efforts of the organizers and other stakeholders, reiterating that their commitment is crucial in the fight against corruption.

In his welcome address, the summit's convener, Comrade Charles Agubor, encouraged participants to ensure their character and actions reflect their words.

“Let your character and actions speak louder than your words. May your service to humanity embody selflessness, and let your ambitions be guided by ethical principles.

“The future of our nation lies in the hands of young leaders like you, and your integrity will determine how far Nigeria can progress in achieving its aspirations.”

Additionally, Dr. Daniel Omofoman, Executive Director of the African Electoral Integrity Initiative, remarked that the Commission is a key player in ensuring electoral integrity, noting their partnership with the Commission and others in this area.
