"Corrie Icon Eileen Derbyshire, 95, Resides in Retirement Home for Stars as Son Donates Old ITV Soap Scripts"

CORONATION Street legend Eileen Derbyshire is now living in a home for retired celebrities, seven years after she was last seen on screen.

The much-loved actress, 95, is known for playing , after first appearing in Weatherfield in the 60s.

Last night, her son Ollie gave an update on his beloved mum, after he revealed he was giving fans the chance to snap up a piece of memorabilia.

Taking to X, he tweeted: “When I cleared out my mum’s cottage, I found a lot of old Coronation St scripts.

“They’re nothing fancy but if anyone would like a page or two for a memento, I’d be happy to mail a few out. No charge, obviously.”

Ollie then revealed how his mum was doing, after a fan inquired about the actress.

“She’s still going. She’s about to turn 95. She’s in a home for retired actors and actresses now,” he replied.

Eileen first appeared on the Street’s famous cobbles as Emily Bishop in December 1960 when she was in her 20s.

During her time on the soap she was involved in plenty of dramatic storylines including her husband being shot, suffering a mental breakdown and being the victim of a murder attempt.

It was announced in November 2015 that the character would be leaving, and Eileen’s character Emily departed on ‘s Day the following year, after 55 years on the show.

She went to to join her nephew Spider who was teaching a school there.

Ken Barlow then revealed in January 2018 that Emily had returned to the UK to care for her niece Freda in who was unwell.

However, in October, for Ken Barlow’s 80th birthday celebration.

This marked the last time Eileen was seen on Coronation Street.
