A Coronation Street star’s on-screen daughter broke down in tears as they filmed their final scenes together.

Daniel Brocklebank, a long-time cast member of the soap, shared an emotional post on his last day portraying the beloved character.

The 45-year-old actor posted a touching photo with a teary-eyed co-star Harriet Bibby, whom he described as an “incredible woman” and a “beautiful human” as he bid farewell to the cobbles.

In an emotional message, Daniel wrote: “Today is my final day working with this beautiful human. I’ve cherished playing her TV dad. What an honor it has been.

“An incredible woman. I will miss her terribly. Thank goodness I can still see her in real life for dinners, walks, and hugs. [heart emoji]”

The heartfelt photo garnered over 11,000 likes on the platform, with co-stars and fans quickly paying tribute to the actor as he prepares to leave Corrie.

His on-screen daughter Harriet, who portrays Summer Spellman, commented: “What an adventure we had! [heart emoji] I love you lots x”.

Former Corrie star Peter Ash remarked: “You both are amazing! xx”.

Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw on the soap, added: “Love you both the most [crying emoji] [heart eye emoji]”.

Actress Sally Carman, who plays Abi Franklin, responded: “Oh you two [crying emoji] [heart emoji]”.

His exit is set to air next year in a dramatic storyline.

Confirming his departure, Daniel stated: “I have spent a quarter of my life working on Corrie.

“I have loved every moment spent in that building and have always looked forward to going to work.

“I cherish everyone who works on this show and while I am sad to leave, I am equally excited to see what the future brings.”

He also mentioned: “Billy will be involved in a significant storyline in the coming months, which will test him in ways he never thought possible, as friendships and his faith are pushed to their limits.

“We’re deeply saddened to say goodbye to Dan, who has played a fantastic role in some of Corrie’s biggest storylines in recent years, especially Paul’s MND storyline.

“He is an actor of immense talent and skill and a true gem behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.”

Actor Daniel joined the soap in 2014 as Sean Tully’s new love interest and quickly became a supportive character on the cobbles.

However, it didn’t take long for Billy to become a regular character, experiencing affairs, being revealed as the unwitting killer of Ken Barlow’s daughter Susan, and later struggling with heroin addiction.

More recently, he has been entangled in the ordeal of his friend and ex Todd Grimshaw as the abusive boyfriend Theo tightens his grip on him.
