FORMER Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt is reaching for pop stardom again – three decades after appearing in his music video naked.

– who first found fame as Nick Tilsley on the cobbles in 1997 – is officially back in the studio decades after his reign as a pop heartthrob.
Taking to social media to celebrate his exciting new chapter, he wrote: “So a thing happened!!
“Out of nowhere seems heavy breathing is back in fashion… teamed up with a bit of singing and a few laughs along the way.
“Can’t reveal the whole thing yet but NEW MUSIC incoming!!
“And this time we are doing it together, join us on this mad journey!”
In 1999, he took a shot at pop stardom with a solo music career, hitting the Top 10 with his single I Breathe Again.
He initially signed a six-album deal with Polydor, although he only released one, Good Times, before parting ways with them.
The news of his comeback broke via an video filmed with his GMB presenter wife, Katy Fawcett.
In the clip, the couple teased the new project.
Katy told the camera: “A lot of you may have noticed Adam’s been popping up doing a few gigs since last year.
“Well today, what are we going to do Adam?”
Looking bashful, Adam replied: “We’re going to record a new song.”
Katy further explained: “We’re going to actually record new music. He’s so modest he won’t do this himself.
“He’s been resigned and he’s already been in the studio doing remakes of his older stuff.”
Adam noted: “We did a version of Breathe Again which was nice. Today, we’ve got a really good song idea.”
When Katy asked, “Who’s the song about?” Adam replied: “You baby.”
“Can I be your biggest groupie?” she asked. Adam joked: “Yes. I’ve got to have one.”
Reflecting on his past experience of pop stardom, Adam admitted: “It was what every kid dreams of but because of what was going on in here [his head] I didn’t enjoy it.
“It always felt like a wasted opportunity, to not have had the time of my life,” he explained.
“Now I’m older and this isn’t gonna get any better. It means I can do something and actually enjoy it this time and I can do it with you and that will make it worth doing.”
He remained on Corrie for two years, with his character getting caught up in a complicated romance with Leanne Battersby, played by Jane Danson.
The actor later spent three years on the soap Shortland Street and joined the boyband supergroup 5th Story for The Big Reunion in 2014.
More recently, he starred as Kyle Kelly in until 2020 and appeared in the series Doctors.
