The president hosted Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and his delegation at the White House, where the two leaders exchanged views on tariffs and other bilateral issues.
Following Carney’s remarks on continued engagement with the United States, Trump commented on the cordial tone of their talks, in contrast to a recent, more fractious encounter.
“This is a very friendly conversation,”; he said. “We had another little blow-up with somebody else, it was much different. This is a very friendly conversation.”;
The remark drew laughter from Carney and other officials. Trump went on to commend Carney’s experience and praised the campaign that led to his election.
Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump reportedly descending into a shouting match between the two leaders.
During the session, Vice President JD Vance criticised Zelenskyy for what he perceived as a lack of gratitude toward the Trump administration despite American support for Ukraine.
“I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media,”; Vance said in protest of Zelenskyy’s attitude.
