, 28, dropped the Brit with a peach of a right hand early in the second before referee Thomas Taylor halted his follow-up barrage against the ropes.
The stoppage in Benn’s ill-fated return to 147lbs was the FIRST of his professional career.
And as a precaution due to the extreme weight cut he performed to get down to the championship mark, he was taken to the hospital for additional medical checks.
A crestfallen Benn left the ring without giving a post-fight interview.
But he reflected on his first stoppage loss on Twitter a few hours after having his world title dreams shattered.
He wrote on X: “Not my night, no excuses. @RyanGarcia you’re a great champion 🫱🏾🫲🏻”
Garcia’s demolition job of saw him make the first defence of the belt he ripped from Mario Barrios’ clutches in February.

The 28-year-old then wasted no time in opening the door to a showdown with Teofimo Lopez and a rematch with Devin Haney.
He said: “Teofimo, get that a** up here. “Where you at?
“He wants to get crazy; we can get crazy. I’ll beat your a** right now!
“Hopefully we get to beat Devin Haney’s ass again for undisputed. F**k the Haney’s!”
