COLE PALMER fell asleep during England’s historic win at the Azteca against Mexico – and couldn’t remember which European country he went to talk about getting surgery.
The star was in typically comedic form as he faced the press on Friday ahead of the weekend’s pre-season clash with Tottenham in Sydney.

And Palmer,, admitted he drifted in and out of the tournament from afar.
He said: “Yeah I watched some of it. Obviously I was away and the times were a bit mad in America.
“So it was a bit difficult but I did watch.”
When asked specifically , Palmer replied: “I did but then I fell asleep at half time.”

Palmer explained: “Naturally, it’s like anything. If someone told you that you’re not good enough to get in the squad then you’re going to try and go extra hard.”

But his focus is not just on getting back into the international picture.
The former man said: “I’m not really thinking about that now to be honest.
“I’m just looking forward to the season with Chelsea and I’m not too bothered about [England].”

And surgery was a real consideration for the forward – but he wasn’t sure where he went to discuss it.
Palmer said: “I can’t remember where, it was either Sweden or Denmark, one of them countries anyway, I went to see a doctor.
“We did speak about it but didn’t end up getting it.”
The time on the sideline left him confused. He went on: “I didn’t really know how to deal with it.
“The first few months of being injured I just wanted to go out and play, which obviously I shouldn’t have done.
“I couldn’t play how I wanted to play. It was a bad season personally with injuries and stuff.
“But I feel good now. The seven weeks obviously helped and now I’m ready to go again.]
And after an uninterrupted holiday, Palmer is refreshed.
He said: “My summer was great. I had like seven weeks off or something, which I’ve never really had.
“It was good. I went away with my family and that. Yeah, I feel fresh.”
But it wasn’t always easy to deal with. “Nah, not in the first week [I didn’t know what to do with myself].
“Yeah [it was strange]. I didn’t know where to go.
“I went on holiday and was thinking: ‘Where do I go next?’
“I kept checking when I was back in [for training].
“To be fair I got bored in like the sixth week. I was sat in Marbella thinking: ‘I want to go back in.’
“And I’ve never thought that.”
