Club World Cup: Real Madrid let me go – Hakimi after PSG’s 4-0 win

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has claimed that Real Madrid allowed him to leave the club in the past.

Hakimi made the remark during his post-match interview following PSG’s 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Recall that goals from Fabián Ruiz (2), Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos secured the win for the French Ligue 1 champions against Xabi Alonso’s side at the MetLife Stadium.

Real Madrid sold Hakimi to Serie A side Inter Milan in 2020. However, the Moroccan international spent just one season at San Siro before making the switch to PSG in 2021.

Hakimi has impressed since joining the Parisians four years ago, winning several trophies with the club, including the UEFA Champions League.

When asked why he left Real Madrid, he said (via TouchlineX): “It wasn’t my decision. It was not me. They were the ones who decided to let me go.”;
