Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has revealed that FIFA has opened an investigation into claims that Antonio Rüdiger was allegedly racially abused by Gustavo Cabral during their 3-1 win over Pachuca in the Club World Cup on Sunday.
The incident happened five minutes into stoppage time, after Rüdiger clashed with players from the Mexican club after he was fouled.
After having conversations with the Madrid defender, Referee Ramon Abatti crossed his hands in front of his chest to activate the anti-racism protocol.
Alonso has now said the LaLiga club will offer their full support to the 32-year-old.
He replied: “That’s what Rüdiger said, and we believe him.
“It is important to have zero tolerance in these kinds of situations. FIFA now is investigating. That’s all I can say.”;
Cabral, speaking after the game, claimed he called Rudiger “chickens”; and denied racially abusing the German international.
FIFA will officially begin the probe after they receive the referee’s report.
