This recognition came after the midfielder won Tuttosport’s award, which celebrates the best Under-21 players in Europe, receiving over 1 million votes from fans worldwide.

The Greece international outperformed competitors such as players from Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and last year's Juventus winner.

SunSport understands that both clubs have been monitoring Mouzakitis ahead of the January transfer window.

Reports indicate that both teams have been interested in the young talent for over a year since he made his debut with Olympiacos.

United aims to bolster their midfield and has previously shown interest in Brighton’s and Atletico Madrid’s players.

The Seagulls could potentially lose Baleba and are consistently searching for emerging talents, as demonstrated in recent years.

Most recently, they signed a player with £1.7m in add-ons last summer.

The two young stars made history in 2024 by becoming the first Greek club to win a European trophy, claiming the UEFA Youth League title with Olympiacos’ Under-19s, shortly before the senior team won the Europa Conference League a few months later.

According to SunSport, Mouzakitis’ market value starts at £13.2m, but his asking price is expected to increase by January.

However, the central midfielder could still be seen as a bargain compared to many other targets.

Both United and Brighton are preparing for a competitive bidding war for the promising young talent, whose contract in Piraeus extends until 2029.

SunSport recently reported that Mouzakitis has also caught the eye of rivals, including other clubs .

The midfielder has attracted interest from various teams as well.

Mouzakitis has recorded a total of two goals and six assists in 49 appearances since his promotion to Olympiacos’ first team in 2024.
