CHRISTIAN KOFANE’S agent has sensationally claimed that a host of top clubs are vying for his signature – and Arsenal are said to be in “pole position”.

Kofane, 19, has been making waves in Germany since breaking into the first team this season.

The teenage striker has scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 39 appearances for Leverkusen this term, and has already earned himself six senior caps for the national team.

So it is no surprise that rumours are starting to swirl about a potential transfer in the summer.

According to his agent, Eric Depolo, , , Newcastle, , , and are all keen on the forward.

But it’s the Gunners who are reportedly best placed to get a deal over the line as things stand.

In an interview with Daily Arsenal , it’s claimed Depolo said: “Arsenal’s interest is genuine. The manager [Mikel Arteta] likes him very much.

“I think it is too early to say [who is leading the race], but due to the fact that the player speaks Spanish, like , and that is originally from Cameroon, I would say Arsenal are in pole position.”

Depolo also claimed that he has made contact with Arsenal about a potential move, but has valued his client at a whopping £87MILLION.

Sky Germany report that a deal for Kofane would likely cost between £52m and £61m, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also keeping tabs on the rising star.

Kofane has already impressed Arsenal fans with his showing against Saliba and in the first leg of Leverkusen’s last 16 tie against the Gunners.

Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand waxed lyrical about Kofane’s performance in that first leg recently.

He said: “It is extremely difficult to take care of Kofane when he is in this form.

“He is strong, he delivers a lot in the pressing, he is present defensively, and he was a handful for the Arsenal centre-backs.”
