Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, stated that US Senator Ted Cruz’s claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria are founded on hearsay.
Bwala expressed this viewpoint during an interview on 'Sunday Politics', a program aired on Channels Television.
DAILY POST recalls that Senator Ted Cruz accused the Nigerian government of orchestrating a genocide against Christians.
In response, Bwala remarked, “Firstly, Senator Ted Cruz is experiencing a decline in popularity in the US due to some extreme positions he has taken, which have not resonated well with the public.
“Some of the information cited by Ted Cruz dates back to 2015 and even 2018. He referenced reports from Sahara Reporters, a civil society group, and what they termed open source for the killings in 2025.
“Nearly all the published material relies on hearsay. When preparing a report, it is essential to trace the source back to its origin. You must verify the information. Nowhere in his report has he established that this information originated from research conducted by their organization.
“One fascinating aspect of his report is that while he has analyzed every killing in Nigeria, he conveniently overlooked one particular incident. In fact, he claimed that all killings of priests and citizens in Southern Nigeria are carried out by Nigeria’s security forces under the guise of combating the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).”
