A CHILDCARE worker has been slapped with over 400 charges after allegedly abusing 150 children at five nurseries.
Hamish Tait, 35, has been accused of sexual assault, producing child abuse material, and inappropriate filming over the span of more than 15 years.
The suspect reportedly worked at or attended 62 early childhood education facilities, including five nurseries, between 2009 and 2025, according to local cops.
The additional charges laid on Friday include 105 counts of producing child abuse material, one count of carrying out a sexual act with a child under 10, five counts of filming a person engaged in a private act in circumstances of aggravation, and four counts of possessing child abuse material.
A probe, named Operation Moonbi, into Tait was launched in 2025 after the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in the US flagged child abuse material he allegedly uploaded.
Electronic devices at Tait’s home in Sydney were seized during a police raid.
Local authorities allege these computers contained child abuse material.
It took investigators one whole year to analyse 2.4 million electronic files stored on his devices.
Detective Acting Inspector Emmanuel Tsardoulias previously said the victim identification work was “painstaking and detailed”.
He said: “Our victim ID team is tenacious, committed and will stop at nothing to identify children or victims of child exploitation.”
Police also conducted 12 search warrants during the probe.
At least 136 alleged victims have been contacted by authorities.
Authorities have also published a website listing all the places Tait worked at.
The childcare worker has been remanded in custody since he was arrested and charged in July 2025.
He is yet to enter a plea for the charges.
The suspect is next due in court on October 8.
