CHELSEA'S defeat to Aston Villa sparked widespread reflection on social media regarding the current state of the 'World Champions.'

Fans expressed their frustration in various directions—toward the players, the manager, tactical decisions, and more. However, the primary anger was directed towards the board and their signings.

The Blues replaced players like Estevao and Joao Pedro, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with Andrey Santos, among others, during the summer.

But did they truly enhance their squad after spending £266.5m in the summer?

As reported, they are currently worse off in terms of points, but have faced additional challenges.

On an individual basis, SunSport has provided an assessment of whether Chelsea has improved their squad...

MADUEKE vs ESTEVAO – There’s no denying that Estevao has been a standout among the Blues' summer signings, while Madueke might not mind transitioning from being a backup at Chelsea to being a backup elsewhere.

The Brazilian sensation, Estevao, hasn't had enough minutes to make a significant impact in the Premier League, but he has shown potential as a successful signing with elite capabilities.

However, Madueke still appears to be a player that Chelsea could benefit from, as he has displayed moments of brilliance in his time.

If you asked most Chelsea fans, they would likely be satisfied with this transaction, at least.

NICOLAS JACKSON vs LIAM DELAP – Jackson hasn't dazzled at his new club, scoring five goals in 17 games for the German champions thus far.

Yet, he is still waiting for his first Premier League goal with Chelsea.

Last season’s match against was a prime example of what Jackson could contribute to this Chelsea team, as he dropped deep to assist with a signature finish.

Despite his frustrations, it’s hard to believe that the Senegalese forward would perform worse than Delap has so far, as he was developing into a player with a promising Premier League future.

In retrospect, Jackson would likely be the preferred option over Delap at this moment.

CHRISTOPHER NKUNKU vs JOAO PEDRO – When Joao Pedro joined Chelsea during the transfer window, he appeared to be the solution to the team's number nine dilemma.

While Nkunku netted a brace last weekend, it’s difficult to argue against the notion that Joao Pedro has been an upgrade over the Frenchman.

Pedro has scored six goals and provided three assists in 18 Premier League matches for the Blues this season, potentially justifying his transfer fee by assisting the team in winning the trophy already.

The acquisition of Joao Pedro is clearly a positive development.

KIERNAN DEWSBURY-HALL vs ANDREY SANTOS – The departure of Dewsbury-Hall might epitomize Chelsea’s strategy more than any other change.

KDH consistently performed well when called upon by Maresca last season and was replaced by Santos, who spent the previous campaign on loan at their sister club, Strasbourg.

While Santos has had a mixed start to his time at Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall has been one of ‘s standout players this season and likely offers more quality than the Brazilian at this time.

Santos is, of course, a long-term investment and will need more time to showcase his talent.
