Two teams locked in a battle for the Champions League – but BOTH need a result badly to stop a bit of a rot.
Chelsea go into the weekend in sixth spot and four points outside those coveted spots, which is quite the decline given they were comfortable to get in the top FOUR at Christmas.
Five defeats from their last six games is a terrible stretch of form – with just a win over League One Port Vale in there – but even worse is they’ve failed to score in FOUR of those games.
Last weekend saw them relatively competitive in the first half against title-chasing Man City, only to be completely outclassed for the second 45 minutes and lose by three goals for the third time in the last four games.
They just don’t really look like scoring at the minute despite numerous changes to the front three and a lack of creativity in behind.
So something needs to change to close the gap on the sides above them, which includes Saturday’s visitors.
United were cruising to a return to Europe’s top table but have stuttered in recent weeks with just four points picked up in their last four games.
Red cards in back-to-back games hasn’t helped things and Lisandro Martinez’s hair-pull on Monday in the loss to Leeds has split opinion.
Nevertheless, they had chances to win the game which they didn’t take and they go into the weekend seven points clear of the Blues in sixth spot with six games to play.

Tight
Chelsea need a win but realistically, have to avoid defeat first and foremost.
Since that “respecting the ball” nonsense of a few weeks ago, things have unraveled pretty quickly and defeat here would potentially rule them out of a run to the top five.
United have drawn four of their last seven away from home and a draw more than suits them and their pursuit of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Casemiro has three goals in his last four games for Manchester United and has proven a key player at both ends of the park.
Not just that, he has nine shots on target in his last seven games, proving himself a real attacking threat.
